Sinann was originally a mortal woman who searched for the Well of Knowledge. In this well lived the Salmon of Knowledge. When she finally came upon it, in Northern Ireland, she opened the cover and the water rushed out becoming the river Shannon. As the waters flowed over her body she transcended into the river, her spirit dwelling in all of it. She was forever changed by the knowledge into a new being, transformed into the goddess Sinann and the slayer of sea monsters.
