"River goddess of fire, healing and fertility" pottery cremation urn for ashes.
Irish Water Deity From Cúchulainn Legends comes the story of Li-Ban, which in old Irish translates as beautiful woman.
The maiden’s dwelling was flooded when a mythical spring emerged from the ground under her house forming Lough Neagh. A protective seal was created around her chamber. Thus Li-Ban was safely confined within her dry chamber, where the beautiful maiden resided at the bottom of Lough Neagh for a year to come. Wishing greater freedom Li Ban transformed into a mermaid free to roam the lakes for three hundred years. She sang her beautiful songs, which echoed, through the land. It was her enchanting voice that led her to being discovered by a passing boat. Li Ban agreed to come ashore relinquishing her mythical form and ascended into the heavens.
